Providing Space for Community
Durham Central Park is a five-acre city-owned park located in the heart of Downtown Durham. In an effort to help the park strengthen its brand, Kompleks Creative was asked to design a brochure that captured the essence of the park―beautiful, accessible, enjoyable and welcoming. The best way to depict all of these qualities was through photos, which they happened to have a lot of. The result was a very engaging marketing piece that communicated the park offerings.
Throughout 2017, we worked closely with Durham Central Park to establish a consistent look and feel for the graphic designs shared on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram profiles. When they wanted to provide branded bee mix as a promotional item to patrons, Kompleks Creative was eager to craft the product design. At the end of the year, we also designed a year-in-review postcard and accompanying social media graphics.
As part of DCP’s 2019 marketing efforts, they wanted two retractable banners to be displayed at the Durham Farmer’s Market and other programs. One was general, focusing on them being a nonprofit offering free programming to the Durham community. The other was focused on seeking support in an effort to continue providing free programming. Given our branding work over the years, we were asked to design both banners. As a result, Park visitors are more aware of all the Park provides to Durhamites.
When Durham Central Park renamed their annual summer concert series in 2018, Kompleks Creative was immediately onboard to establish the branding for this funky activity. Without any restrictions, our team crafted a very intricate logo design to reflect the high-quality mix of eclectic sounds that echo the park throughout the summer. Upon completion of the logo, we created the series social media graphics, poster design, postcard design and signage.
In an effort to reinforce the series' brand and build excitement, we launched a website in 2019. Now, PLAYlist has a home that reflects the experience of attending a concert.
Since its conception, we have handled the social media advertising for the annual series. This year, we recommended the use of Eventbrite to capture user information. Read the case study.
