St. Joseph’s Historic Foundation Hayti Heritage Center is an African American cultural and educational institution with strong ties in the Hayti community of Durham, North Carolina.

While Kompleks Creative originally designed its website in 2008, the center again approached us in 2011 to re-energize its online identity. Its rapid growth called for a design approach that was both fresh and dynamic. With a plethora of resources and information to share with the community, functionality was arguably the most important aspect of the entire process. In this case, a heightened focus on information architecture and clarity largely informed the direction of website design and website development. We think of the redesign as a bridge between a key historical organization and contemporary technologies. Ultimately, we produced a website design that any audience can appreciate.
