Advancing Studies in Humanities

The National Humanities Center is a privately-owned organization located in Research Triangle Park (RTP) that offers advanced studies for scholars in history, literature, music, art, philosophy, and the like. Coming up on their 40th anniversary, NHC decided they wanted to push the design of their annual report to evoke the energy and excitement that the organization possesses.

Taking inspiration from a Durham Chamber project that the National Humanities Center team saw and liked in our office, Kompleks Creative incorporated large typography and contrasting colors. As a text heavy 40+ page publication, we opted to use graphic elements and photography to make the pages easier to take in. The final report is both visually appealing and informative.

2018-20 Annual Reports

The following year, they asked us to utilize the same design, but refresh the color palette. They also wanted to launch a complimentary digital version of the annual report that stakeholders could engage with online. As a result, we created a web design that highlighted key information and provided easy access to the PDF for downloading. In 2020, we built upon the previous year's work and made the landing page more robust.
