The North Carolina Association of Educators is a strong advocate for educators in the public school system. They came to Kompleks Creative for a refresh of their informational posters and brochures. Their biggest request was that we represent the state of North Carolina in a modern and unique, but cohesive, way.

We used a silhouette design that implements rich, warm tones and subtle background gradients. The graphic elements are texturally flat with an offset, layered arrangement, offering a highly geometric, papercut look. To properly represent the state as requested by NCAE, we incorporated an illustration of geographic elements from all four regions of North Carolina. Seen in the illustration are the mountains of Blue Ridge, the bustling downtowns built on red clay in the Piedmont, the rolling sand hills and farmlands of the Coastal Plain, and the Atlantic beach destinations of the Outer Banks.

The papercut-like layers of the illustration can be shifted around to create unique looks for future documents for the North Carolina Association of Educators, while still retaining the same visual presence of the informational poster.
