Saving the Ecosystem, One Lemur at a Time
Founded in 1966, the Duke Lemur Center is a living laboratory that strives to make scientific advances and support biological conservation through interdisciplinary research on lemurs. The center engages scientists, students and the public in new discoveries and promotes a deeper appreciation of biodiversity.
The Duke Lemur Center came to Kompleks Creative on the cusp of their 50th anniversary wanting a new website design that better represented the center as it exists today—modern, engaging and an integral part of wider research and conservation efforts. The new website development reflected their contemporary image and paid homage to their rich history, and utilized functionality that allows users a more meaningful experience.
Today, the Duke Lemur Center houses the world’s largest and most diverse collection of lemurs outside of Madagascar, and the current colony houses nearly 250 individuals across 18 species.
In celebration of this achievement, the center wanted to highlight their impact and anniversary activities, as well as seek support for the next 50 years. Kompleks Creative developed a website design full of large lemur photos to show the diversity available at the center. We also integreated videos of the lemurs, as well as vibrant colors and large typography.
