AI For The People (AFP) is a nonprofit communications firm dedicated to fostering a future free from algorithmic bias. They collaborate with media professionals, public officials, content creators, and policymakers to ensure that racial justice is a central focus in public discussions around technology. Their work emphasizes community care and uplifts femme and minority voices.

When AFP sought a distinctive online presence, they turned to Kompleks Creative for a website that would serve as a powerful hub for potential foundations, clients, and organizations in the tech space. The goal was to create a site that showcased their impactful work while embodying their vibrant, mission-driven personality.

To achieve this, we used bold color blocking to spotlight key information and integrated triangular elements inspired by African tribal motifs. Black outlines and offset colors evoke the early aesthetics of HTML editors, adding a nostalgic yet modern touch. We extended AFP‘s iconic logo—a representation of a person with an afro—into the design of flat, colorful icons, creating a cohesive and engaging user experience.

The resulting website design reflects AFP‘s bold identity, providing a dynamic platform for educating visitors about the pervasive issue of bias in technology while fostering connections with partners and supporters.
